Today at approx. 03:00 (CET, GMT+1), after having partied with Siby and Sebo and have enjoyed some more of our beloved Absinthe, I read in Bad Astronomy that SpaceX was about to launch the third Falcon 1 rocket into space. As I logged to the official website it was T-15min, so I decided to stay awake until take-off.
The few minutes before T-Zero were so exciting! I could hear my heart beating! And I am not even part of the crew, I was wondering how they must have felt! Countdown was aborted at T-0.5s due to “0.5 psi off on turbopump purge pressure” with about an hour of the launch-window open, but soon it was T-10min again.
Finally. T-Zero. The rocket lifts off in a cloud of white smoke…
Sadly, after approx. 2 minutes the rocket was lost. Apparently the first stage of the ship violently recontacted the second stage after the separation. I am looking forward to the next launch and congratulate the SpaceX team for their achievements today!
