Tesseract
This video is amazing. And the music too!
In four dimensional geometry, the tesseract, also called an 8-cell or regular octachoron, is the four-dimensional analog of the cube, which is in turn the three dimensional analog of the square. The tesseract is to the cube as the cube is to the square; or, more formally, the tesseract can be described as a regular convex 4-polytope whose boundary consists of eight cubical cells.
Wikipedia: Tesseract
This one is even prettier:
But if you want to appreciate its structure, watch this next one! The author gives a short explanation:
All six rotations of a transparent tesseract. Each rotation that includes the w axis is a minute long, while the other three are each 20 seconds long. This way, you’ll be able to zone out and better visualize the tesseract.
0:00 XW
1:00 YW
2:00 ZW
3:00 XZ
3:20 YZ
3:40 XY
4:00 All rotations in succession

Let me be tortured
PZ posted once more some the hate mail he gets from religious kooks. I just wanna quote this little paragraph, which refers to the The Great Desecration, the day that PZ Myers desecrated a communion wafer, pages of the Koran and of The God Delusion in an answer to the ludicrous collective response of the Catholic community regarding the “hostage taking” of Jesus Christ by student Webster Cook:
I wanna thank you actually…I believe in Jesus Christ completely for the first time because he suffered humiliation in all his magnanimity at the hands of one of his lowest creatures!
Interesting how one can believe in a god that is greater the more humiliation he suffers. Maybe if I say I am the messiah, let people stone me, burn me and infect me with HIM… an then crucify me, some people will believe I am god!
I’d rather like to believe in a superhero god! That when taken prisoner by Roman soldiers melts the chains with laser coming out of his eyes and flies to the skies, instead of pathetically allowing to be tortured to death to save people from sins they didn’t commit - and then allows “one of his lowest creatures to pierce him with rusty nail… For a most comical display, watch the following video!
Even funnier is this image:

Hippies want to ban water
First watch the Crazy Sprinkler Lady video. Phil also wrote about it some time ago. It was then that I learned of the evils of dehydrogen monoxide OMFG!!!!!
And now… now I found this:
It reminds me of this class I took last semester with Prof. Reiner Kümmel, Thermodynamics and Economy. As you can tell from the name, it had a lot to do with energy policies, it was so much more a class about politics than physics, which in a way was a freshening and totally new to me. The point is that there I learned even more how so many people and governments who are mostly not scientifically literate make stupid decisions, because they are not well informed or choose the wrong sources of information. The world would be so much better if governments would seek the help of actual scientists. Phil thinks the same:
Crichton makes claims about being a scientist himself. He has a book out on denying global warming, and advised President Bush on it. James Hansen, an actual climate scientist, couldn’t see Bush, but a guy who wrote about the work other people did got an audience. It’s a crazy world.
Take for example global warming (YES, it’s happening) and peak oil (YES, oil production has peaked).
In this case is the use of ominous technical words that frighten people into thinking something as harmless as water is gonna kill’em. As Penn said,
[the video] does show that maybe they are not so much environmentalists as they are joiners… of anything.
Stupid hippies

The slow death of Religion in the UK
Last Friday, May 9 2008, two interesting articles were published by two secularist organisations. First, RichardDawkins.Net published the interviews of Richard Dawkins and Cardinal Murphy O’Connor, head of England’s Roman Catholic Church, by John Humphrys on BBC Radio 4.

Making fun of religion
…is fun!
Religion is bullshit
You talk about a good bullshit story? Holy Shit!
Did he say “Humpty Dumpty"? Maybe that explains why Pat Condell had his vision in Jerusalem!
Thoughts can really fuck up the faith thing…
…just as any catholic priest

Religious hypocrites
Religious people are quite hypocrites when it comes to science. Those who still believe that the Earth was created in six days about 5000 years ago neglect the vast amount of scientific evidence that shows that the Earth is about 4.54 billion years old. For a most stupid assertion please watch Ted Haggard ridicule himself in Richard Dawkins’ documentary The Root Of All Evil?. Evolution to them is either a lie spread by the devil or a diversion planned by God to test our faith. Bollocks I say.
But then again you see “alternative medicine” methods using phrases such as “quantum healing". Or Muslim clerics saying that “modern science had at last provided evidence that Mecca was the true centre of the Earth”. Yes, you read correctly. I ask myself: 1) since when does a religion care about scientific evidence? and 2) how the hell can be a point on the surface of an ellipsoid be it’s centre? … … …
And of course you see religion pose as the very thing it hates: science. Yes, I am talking about Intelligent Design. The moment a Theory involves God it stops being science and becomes religion. I am appalled at the number of schools in the USA that want to get evolution out of science class and put Intelligent Design instead. I wonder how the Pope would react if we started teaching abiogenesis in church, instead of the Bible?
But there is still hope! The National Center for Science Education “put[s] out the fires” of creationism. Let’s give them our support!
I want to finish this post by giving you this link to Expelled Exposed, a website that exposes all the mischievous facts about Ben Steins movie on Intelligent Design Expelled. If you see him, please punch him in the head.

Boxman Dance!
So I was watching the Wikipedia article on Pat Condell, an atheist guy from the Uk who hast posted some videos on YouTube and other sites criticising religion, so I’m quite a fan of him. There I read that actually he is one of the top hundred most subscribed to users on YouTube. And browsing through some of the “most subscribed” I stumbled upon this profile.
They are apparently two guys whose website is www.smosh.com and who do some video projects. In their last video they announced the winners of the Boxman Dance Contest. It’s a very funny dance to a pretty catchy song and after watching the winner videos I regretted not having known about the contest early, because I would have submitted my video too!

If after watching some of Kent Hovind’s videos you thought there couldn’t possibly be a person more stupid in the world - you were wrong.
Yes, sadly, there are people actually believing all this bullshit. Even sadder is the existence of this moron, who posted this video. To be sincere, I couldn’t watch it fully without getting high blood pressure. Stupidity pisses me off. I sent the link to my friend Michael V. He just found it funny because it’s so stupid, but didn’t get angry. He gave me a good advice and told getting all pissed off every time one finds stupidness is a bad idea: then one would be pissed off all day.

Kent Hovind's Age of The Earth
I’be been reading a lot lately about the whole Creationist debates. There’s a very interesting character out there called Kent Hovind, a real moron if you ask me. I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard so much obtuseness. Just make a YouTube search of him and you’ll know what I mean.
